Problem getting "phpMyAdmin" Running

Hello Folks, I'm new to PHP and MySQL world. I sure hope this is not OFF TOPIC. First, I guess I have to confirm you that MySQL is up and running on my Linux Hosting. Just dropped all the phpMyAdmin files in a secure folder in my root directory and I get the following error message when calling the index.php3: "Parse error: parse error in lib.inc.php3 on line 1" Is there anyone who would have encountered such problem who could help me get this great program on the road?
