I think this would be better posted to phpdev as they decide stuff like this. They will give you reasons why it is done the way it is! David.
I do not doubt that to be true. However, I am not looking for the dev people to solve my problem. Right now I am asking if anyone has a good workaround. I'll probably poke around in the code and hack together one of the solutions I mentioned a little later. Then I'll submit it to the dev folks. For now, however, I would like to know if anyone has found some creative and suitable workarounds to the circular reference memory leak problem. I have thought of a few, and I am using the least obtuse one right now, but I figured that on a mailing list of this volume, there is bound to be someone out there with a better idea.... Chris
