Kev,
As a work around, cos I don't know what the message means, you can
delete the log file by doing the rm as usual then restarting Apache by
doing:
/etc/rc.d/init/httpd restart
The filesystem will not reclaim disk space until there are no processes
using it (ie with an open file descriptor).
Although this does not solve your orginal problem, it will help until
someone else does. The server interruption time will be about a second!
