I have a simular problem.
I think it has to do with apache-configuration.
Look for a line with this information in http.conf:
--------------------------------
# This controls which options the .htaccess files in directories can
# override. Can also be "All", or any combination of "Options",
"FileInfo",
# "AuthConfig", and "Limit"
AllowOverride All
--------------------------------
This is probably set to "AllowOverride None".
It should be in the part of configuring .htaccess...
I'm not sure, but it could be the solution.
Does anyone else have a better idea of this? ;)
