Alex,
I've beed using the Easysoft ODBC-ODBC bridge for about a year now and it
really does a nice job. I've never had any issues at all. You stated that
you didn't want to load software on the SQL server but I thought I'de
through it out there anyway. You could always install the Easysoft software
on a secont NT box running next to the database server. You would have to
setup a system DSN from that server to your SQL box. It's one more box and
one more hop to get your data but it's a workaround.
Hope this helps.
check out http://www.npps.org/beta. This site is Apache and
PHP4 at the
front end and SQL Server 7 at the back end. It's still in development so
don't expect lots of content.

Subject: MSSQL 7 and PHP
I need to connect to some MSSQL 7 server from php, so far I've found nothing
but bugs and unstability.
I've tried sybase-ct and sybase libs at linux and also some php_mssql70.dll
at win32
Now I'm gonna try the beta FreeTDS libs but I don't get a good feeling about
it (by reading users experience on it).
So my golden question:
what's a rock-solid way to connect to a MSSQL 7 server from PHP?
I'm so frustrated right now that I don't really care if i have to use php3
or php4, linux or win32, sybase, odbc or whatever as long as it works fine
and doesnt requires extra software at the NT SQL server (ie: odbc bridges,
openlink software, etc)
if this means using php3.0.6 with odbc I'd go for it. I just dont want to
keep on trying more and more ways to get this working.
Well, thanks a lot for your help
Alex
