Well, I've opened a can of worms.
I need to expire records in a database older than X days.
This would be easy, if my PHP was compiled with the additional date functions for julian dates.
But, it wasn't.
So, I have to either solve how to upgrade my PHP, or solve this without the julian functions.
My major problem with upgrading is this: I don't know what options my current version of Apache was compiled with. (RH 6.1 straight out of the box) I did install PHP on this system, but my notes don't say anything about compiling Apache.. My notes would appear to indicate that you can install PHP without recompiling apache, but my attempts to upgrade keep leaving me with the older version (4.0b3) installed.
My original thought was to store the records with a julian date, which would make expiring them trivial in a MySQL query.
