whoops i meant mysql_fetch_field, not mysql_fetch_array.....
that'll teach me to make loud headlines without reading them over ....
anyways, problem solved thanks to gautam....
solution:
mysql_fetch_field returns an object; the field name can read with:
while ($object= mysql_fetch_field)
{
$fieldname= $object->name;
}
thanks again to gautam for this one
cheers to all,
nick
