Hey, I was interested in static delivery performance of PHP4 and Resin (they claimed to be faster) and found the following results: [PHP4] - test.php <? echo 'Hello world!'; ?> - results [root@teo /root]# /opt/apache/sbin/ab -k -n 5000 -c 20 http://127.0.0.1/test.phpThis is ApacheBench, Version 1.3c <$Revision: 1.38 $> apache-1.3 Copyright (c) 1996 Adam Twiss, Zeus Technology Ltd, http://www.zeustech.net/ Copyright (c) 1998-1999 The Apache Group, http://www.apache.org/ Server Software: Apache/1.3.12 Server Hostname: 127.0.0.1 Server Port: 80 Document Path: /test.php Document Length: 12 bytes Concurrency Level: 20 Time taken for tests: 18.429 seconds Complete requests: 5000 Failed requests: 0 Keep-Alive requests: 0 Total transferred: 928145 bytes HTML transferred: 60204 bytes Requests per second: 271.31 Transfer rate: 50.36 kb/s received Connnection Times (ms) min avg max Connect: 0 26 410 Processing: 62 46 98 Total: 62 72 508 [Resin] - test.jsp <%@ page language='java' %> Hello world! - results [root@teo bin]# /opt/apache/sbin/ab -k -n 5000 -c 20 http://127.0.0.1:8080/test.jsp This is ApacheBench, Version 1.3c <$Revision: 1.38 $> apache-1.3 Copyright (c) 1996 Adam Twiss, Zeus Technology Ltd, http://www.zeustech.net/ Copyright (c) 1998-1999 The Apache Group, http://www.apache.org/ Server Software: Resin/1.1 Server Hostname: 127.0.0.1 Server Port: 8080 Document Path: /test.jsp Document Length: 14 bytes Concurrency Level: 20 Time taken for tests: 7.541 seconds Complete requests: 5000 Failed requests: 0 Keep-Alive requests: 0 Total transferred: 1196195 bytes HTML transferred: 70070 bytes Requests per second: 663.04 Transfer rate: 158.63 kb/s received Connnection Times (ms) min avg max Connect: 0 8 48 Processing: 8 17 2971 Total: 8 25 3019 PHP configuration can be viewd @ http://teo.digiro.net/info.php Both Resin and PHP4 (lastest snap) were compiled w/ omit-frame-pointer w/o PIC and O7 (also stripped). Though PHP was compiled as dyna module, I dunno where to look for better performance. waiting your suggestions. Soon I'll give it a try to MySQL JDBC driver too. bye -- teodor
