Kurth,
In any parsed tranlated language there is a penality cost for using long
token names. Obivously $mr is going to take longer to parse than
$Monies_Received. But the tradeoff is up to you.
There is not a huge penality, as the variables and tokens are probably
held in some kind ok hashed/indexed tree for fast access, so as
long as you pick a sensible variable character length it will not
affect you server in any noticable way.
In generally for I use:
1 reused character for tempory variables ($t,$i),
3-6 characters for mainly used variables ($sum,$total)
<6 for varibles I want to keep seperate ($MYCOOKY_CUSTNO)
Hope this gives you something to think about,
David.
