Maybe you could try udmsearch http://search.mnogo.ru . Although
it's not a
PHP script, rather it's a C program, it indexes files and stores the result
into a mysql table which is what you want. Moreover it is accompanied by PHP
frontend to search the results. Somebody smart could write a PHP GUI for
udmsearch though :-).
