Re: PLEASE HELP!!! I Can't Get PHP Configured Properly!

Did you build php as a module? The module is not being added, if so. Here's one that bit me in the ass while I was installing a new box...

Yes, I built PHP as an Apache module. Since the module is not being added (taking you at face value because I don't know even how to check for that), what do I do?

If building as a SHARED MODULE (./configure --with-apxs), the FIRST argument to configure MUST be --with-apxs or else it won't modify the httpd.conf for you, and won't install the ${LIBDIR}/libphp4.so which is needed.

My argument was as follows: ./configure --active-module=src/modules/php/libphp4.a however no *libphp4.so* file is to be found.

If building as a static module, then it's something else. I usually build shared myself, but to each his own.

I don't know what the difference is between a shared or static module. I'm just following the instructions in *PHP Professional* Thanks for your help, BenO
