Okay, so you have some sort of mix up. gtk+-2.0.pc says the version if 2.6.7, but your actual .so files say 2.4.0. Check where you have libgtk-2.0.so (or maybe it's libgtk-x11-2.0.so). Try removing one of them. In the worst case, you might have to deinstall gtk+ package, clean up manually, and install again.

Try running pkg-config from command line: # pkg-config --modversion gtk+-2.0Did that. That's how I new it had the wrong pc file. Anything that I install lately is putting pc files in /usr/lib/pkgconfig/ instead of /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/ where all of the other pc files are. If I run that command now I get 2.6.7. When I run configure it says something like: (not in front of my laptop at the moment sorry) pkg-config is reproting Gtk+-2.0 version 2.6.7 but Gtk+ version 2.4.0 found. (Then it give some suggestions that I can't exactly remember) Scott
