I just finished setting up a Kubuntu 7.10 box, and decided I'd give this a shot.
My Linux is pretty basic, but we're getting more requests from our clients that were previously early WinX to go to Linux, instead of disastros like XP and Vista. So this seemed like a good time to tryout the installation process.
I tried to follow the install instructions for PHP in the PHP-Gtk2 manual, but I couldn't make it past the PHP part. Multiple errors with gcc, automake, etc. So I switched to Synaptic and installed PHP 5.2.3, with the mysql extensions. That went fine.
Then I tried to run a buildconf on the file you gave, but it's a no go. AFAICT, it's unhappy about the location for phpize. Out of time and patience by now, even though I know it's probably something simple, I have to give up.
I totally realize that this is probably my lack of expertise and time. And eventually, I'll find the answers and update the install page. But it does seem that in terms of an average user trying to make it work on an 'out of the box' distribution install, I'd say - not.
Maybe we can get Ubuntu to add it to their repositories....
FWIW,

Did you run buildconf or just configure? Can you run "make clean-gen" and then do buildconf, configure, and build? This package bundles generated files based on what I had installed, which is Gtk+ 2.8, so something might be wrong there. -Andrei Bob Majdak Jr wrote:This is broken for me on both Linux and FreeBSD 7. Using this tarball and running a program I have written results in: Fatal error: Call to undefined method bobNotebook::set_tab_reorderable() My program launches, the window shows, GTK is doing things, so it is working sort of. But then it crashes with that error. I go back to the CVS tree, and this problem goes away.make installthis, comes back.make installin cvs, goes away,make installthis... etc etc etc. So I am pretty sure it is not my fault. class bobNotebook extends GtkNotebook {public function __construct() { parent::__construct(); $this->set_scrollable(true); $this->show_all(); return; }}
