Double click on CList

I need to give my users the ability to select a CList row with a double
click. I've read all the online info from the manual and the list, but
must still be doing something wrong.

Environment: Winnt 4.0, sp 6i, PHP 4.2.3, Gtk 0.5.2
Current version of code:
$clist->connect("button-press-event","PMmouseClick",$src);
function PMmouseClick($widget,$event,$src) {
if {$event->button == 5) {
PMcloseWin($src);
}
}

I've also tried $event->keyval to GDK_2BUTTON_PRESS. Same response.
Nothing. What I can verify is that it gets to the function and has an
event, but never resolves to the value for double click.
