I am having a similar problem with trying to install pdflib.
I am on a Solaris9 box using what should be current
builds of autoconf, automake, libtool and m4. I was
able to get past the stage you are at by installing libtool, but
then I got stuck by the macro expansion of AC_PROG_LIBTOOL.
Getting this error:
configure.in:32: warning: underquoted definition of PHP_EXT_BUILDDIR
configure.in:33: warning: underquoted definition of PHP_EXT_DIR
configure.in:34: warning: underquoted definition of PHP_EXT_SRCDIR
configure.in:35: warning: underquoted definition of PHP_ALWAYS_SHARED
acinclude.m4:19: warning: underquoted definition of PHP_PROG_RE2C
configure.in:65: /usr/local/bin/m4: ERROR: Reading inserted file: No such
file or
directory
autom4te: /usr/local/bin/m4 failed with exit status: 1
aclocal: autom4te failed with exit status: 1
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with autoconf/m4 and am completely stuck
on this as well. I wish it would tell me what file it thinks its trying
to read. That would give me someplace to start. I have been playing
around getting debugging and verbose output going, but still nothing
obvious telling me where the problem is. I expect that I will have to get
much more familiar with m4 to figure out whats going on.
