Hi
I know there is still much time, but today I thought about an installer for PHP-Gtk2, at least for windows.
People should have the possibility to install php-gtk in a really easy way by clicking on an .exe, pointint to some "next" buttons and all works.
This can be done very easily with the NSIS installer, as it is scriptable - just the compilation has to be done on a windows machine.
When having an installer, I think the chance is there to associate the php-gtk files with the installed php5.exe. This would ensure that the "install&run" experience is perfect - click on a php-gtk application, and its window pops up. Now there is the question with the right file extension. I know we had the discussion two years ago, but there was no agreement among the people, and we didn't get a result.
The best extension - IMHO - was ".phpw", the "windowed php application".
Other suggestions were to have a context menu entry for opening the whole thing in the console, but as an addition to the console-less default.
Your thoughts?
Regards/MfG,
Christian Weiske
