Alan,
The reason I reverted your patch is because I added methods to
GtkToolbar and need to make a release. But the callback registry patch,
in your own words, it wasn't very well tested. As you said, "Let me know
if you can find any obvious mistakes, like not freeing memory (very
likely).."
If you feel that it has been tested well and will not negatively impact
performance, please feel free to add it after I make 1.0.1 release.
