GTKCombo coughs on large data sets

Is PHP-GTK 1.x supported anymore? I've got a pretty stable codebase I'm
nursing along for a while longer...
Anyhow, when I create a large dataset for GtkCombo, it dies and won't display
the list in the dropdown. The items are "there", in that you can use the
arrow keys and scroll thru them, but they don't popdown anymore.
Here's some sample code that recreates it, Windows 2000 + php 4.4.x.
$popdown=array();
for ($i=0; $i<3000; $i++)
$popdown[]="Item Number $i";
$combo=&New GtkCombo();
$combo->Set_Popdown_Strings($popdown);
$win=&New GtkWindow();
$win->Add($combo);
$win->Show_All();
What can I do about this?
