Looking for input on what others are doing regarding printing,
specifically with regards to *nix. Particularly interested in solutions
that are *free* and also cross-platform. I understand most are probably
using some sort of pdf creation method then piping the file out to the
printer port. Anyone have any other creative methods for generating
printable output? Anyone using the php postscript library? Perhaps
creating a PNG or similar using imagemagick then piping that to lpt?
I already wrote a bunch of code to perform printing using the
php_printer library after somehow missing the WIN32 only disclaimer and
now I have no solution for linux. If I have to write more printing code
I think I'd rather replace the win32 only php_printer code with
something crossplatform as it will be easier to maintain that way.
Anyway, I'm aware of some of the alternatives but was curious if anyone
had come up with an "outside the box" creative method of handling print
tasks inside php-gtk. I'm still using version 1 btw but would be
interested in hearing if/how php-gtk2 might simplify this task.
TIA!
