How to display "double-byte" string within a button or a list ?

Dear All:
I have tested PHP-GTK under Win98 and find that it will work well with English string displaying
within GTK button or list.
But as I try to display double-byte string, for example, Chinese Big-5 string, then it becomes
blank button or list at all.
Will php-GTK 0.0.2 support double-byte string display?
And further more, could I display a button with an image ? that is, how can I create a button
with more fancy style just like outlook or traditional windows buttons?
