Hi all again, I'm still trying to figure out how to fix this unresolved symbol php_sig_gif and I'm surprised nobody has proposed a fix for this. I have found out one small detail that seems odd, if the php module is enabled at startup or restart of apache, the unresolved symbol error happens and apache won't start, but if the module isn't enabled at startup and only enabled after apache is already started then given a graceful restart, then the module loads fine, apache gently restarts and doesn't complain about the unresolved symbol error, why would that be???? One more thing, I did ldd on the libphp4.so module and got this: ldd -r libphp4.so Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_group_id Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: top_module Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_user_id Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_user_name Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_max_requests_per_child Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_server_root Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_log_error Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_update_mtime Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_get_client_block Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_setup_client_block Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_rflush Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_sub_req_lookup_uri Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_run_sub_req Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_rwrite Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_set_last_modified Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_set_etag Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_send_http_header Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_reset_timeout Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_kill_timeout Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_hard_timeout Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_uudecode Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_getword_nulls_nc Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_getword Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_add_version_component Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_unblock_alarms Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_block_alarms Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_register_cleanup Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_add_common_vars Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_signal Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_pstrdup Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_add_cgi_vars Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_table_get Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_table_set Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_table_add Unresolved symbol in libphp4.so: ap_destroy_sub_req Unresolved symbol in libc.so: __Argc Unresolved symbol in libc.so: __ldr_data Unresolved symbol in libc.so: __Argv Main => libphp4.so libz.so.1.1.3 => /usr/local/lib/libz.so.1.1.3 libmm.so => /usr/local/lib/libmm.so libjpeg.so => /usr/shlib/libjpeg.so libpng.so.2.1.0.3 => /usr/local/lib/libpng.so.2.1.0.3 libtiff.so => /usr/local/lib/libtiff.so libpdf.so => /usr/local/lib/libpdf.so libttf.so => /usr/local/lib/libttf.so libX11.so => /usr/shlib/libX11.so libXpm.so => /usr/local/lib/libXpm.so libgdbm.so => /usr/local/lib/libgdbm.so libm.so => /usr/shlib/libm.so libc.so => /usr/shlib/libc.so libXext.so => /usr/shlib/libXext.so What I don't understand is the fact that this doesn't show the php_sig_gif as unresolved and instead a bunch of other unresolved symbol that don't trigger an error when loading the module. I also tried one thing to find out for sure if it was GD that was the problem, I compiled the module without the GD support, taking out all the tiff, jpeg, png and xpm stuff, but it doesn't make any difference, whether I use the GD that comes with the distribution or the latest GD on the system, nothing changes, the php_sig_gif is always unresolved in all cases, why???? Can anyone help with this? I've spent a lot of time trying to make this work and it's frustrating that it still won't work! -- Didier Godefroy mailto:dg@ulysium.net
