I have spent about 5 days, off and on, getting Apache to half way work
with my version of PHP.
I started with apache 1.3.22 (win32) and a php version from early last
year. I have been using apache for years and have had no problem
with that ... but just now have started to try and get php to work with
it and have problems.
Currently I have this configuration:
Windows XP Professional
The latest download of PHP (version 4.3.1 installer ... windows
binaries) ... plus one file from 4.3.2RC1 which I will explain
shortly
Apache 2.045
Browser = Netscape 4.79 ( I have others installed also)
Originally I was having trouble getting apache to start when I
added LoadModule php4_module
e:/php/sapi/php4apache2.dll in my httpd.conf
After a lot of searching on the internet I found out that the latest
version is flawed. The php4apache2.dll from version 4.3.2RC1
works though ... so at least I am past that hurdle.
php.exe itself works fine from the command line using: php
phpfile.php
When I try and open this same file (phpfile.php) from my Netscape
browser though, it wants to open Notepad. I think I must have set php
default setting to Notepad. If I set the association to "php.exe", it
runs, but then it goes away once it finishes. A php command
string itside an HTML page is ignored. I have tried setting the php file
associations to Netscape ... or to nothing. I do not know
where to go from here.
Thanks for any help,
David
