PHP 4.3.1 compile problem on Solaris 8/but compile ok on Solaris 9

any successful experience on configure/make 4.3.1
on Solaris 8 environemnt. I got "output too long"
error at the link step of make file...
interestingly, i compile 4.3.1 ok on Soalris 9
environemnt. I'm using gcc 3.2.2 on both S8/S9.
I'm using tcsh on both S8/S9.
i noticed the link step contains huge list of *.lo
files to link (this is a much much longer list than
my previous 4.2.3 build...
any S8 succesful experiences or suggustions is appreciated..
