Anders,
On using php as a CGI Binary:
This is in the Readme.txt file that comes with php:-
" If you wish to install PHP as a CGI binary, read this first:
http://www.cert.org/advisories/CA-1996-11.htmlNote, we consider installing PHP like this suicidal. " I don't know what the problem is but I wouldn't ignore this advice if you are connected to the Internet. On your main problem:- I tried using Apache 2 when I first started playing with php. I could not get it to work. I do not think Apache 2 is ready for Windows and if I remember correctly this is stated on the Apache site. From my recent experience, look at file permissions for the Web Root directory, php directory and Apache Application Directory. They should have anonymous user access rights set. From the Readme file"- " file permissions on your php script, php.exe, php4ts.dll, php.ini or any php extensions you are trying to load are such that the anonymous internet user ISUR_<machinename> cannot access them." Make sure all of the required php dll's are in the WINNT System32 directory. Make sure your php.ini file is in the WINNT directory. Make a file called phpinfo.php in the Document Root directory. Instructions are everywhere for this. Run php from the command line (Start>Run>Command and then cd to document root and run "php.exe phpinfo.php" . If you get errors then php is not set up properly and you have narrowed down your search. If you get great load of output run it again as "php.exe phpinfo.php > phpout.html". This will send the output to an html file. Then load the html file into your web browser "http://localhost/phpout.html". If Apache is working this should show all of the phpinfo output. If Apache & php are both working then it is more likely to be an access rights problem. It narrows down your search anyway. Good luck. David Meyer At 18:32 28/04/2003, you wrote:
I decided to use the CGI binary version (http://www.php.net/get/php-4.3.1-installer.exe/from/a/mirror) instead of the module version (http://www.php.net/get/php-4.3.1-Win32.zip/from/a/mirror), and now it works.. :) - Does it matter which version I use? I checked the error log file; which says: "Premature end of script headers: php.exe" I think I've put the dll's in the right directory (c:/windows/system32) and inserted the right commands to php.ini (in c:/windows) and httpd.conf in the Apache folder. So I dont know what's wrong really. What does that error message mean? Any help would be nice :) Anders -- ________________________________ Anders L.
