I'm trying to compile PHP-4.3.0 with MySQL 3.23.51, and Apache 1.3.27, using gcc-2.95.3 on Sun Ulta-10 running Solaris-7. I was able to compile apache and mysql without a problem, but when I try to compile php I ran into a problem. Before beginning, I made sure the appropriate binaries are in PATH, and the dynamically linked libraries are in LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I ran the configure script with the following: ./configure \ --with-apxs=/opt/gnu/sbin/apxs \ --with-mysql=/opt/gnu \ --enable-track-vars \ --with-openssl=/opt/gnu \ --with-zlib=/usr/local \ --with-ldap \ --enable-ftp \ --enable-sysvsem \ --enable-sysvshm \ --enable-sockets \ --with-gettext \ --with-mm=/opt/gnu \ --enable-wddx \ --enable-exif \ --prefix=/opt/gnu \ --sysconfdir=/etc/php MySQL is configured and running. But configure produces the following output: checking for mysql_close in -lmysqlclient... no checking for mysql_error in -lmysqlclient... no configure: error: mysql configure failed. Please check config.log for more information. Following is an excerpt from the config.log file: ber_memfree /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_memcalloc /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_set_option /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_memvfree /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_sockbuf_io_debug /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_get_next /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_sockbuf_ctrl /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_bvfree /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_free /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_bvecfree /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_memalloc /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_strdup /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_sockbuf_free /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_skip_tag /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_pvt_log_print /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_alloc_t /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ber_sockbuf_add_io /usr/local/lib/libldap.so ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to conftest collect2: ld returned 1 exit status configure: failed program was: #line 48110 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" /* Override any gcc2 internal prototype to avoid an error. */ /* We use char because int might match the return type of a gcc2 builtin and then its argument prototype would still apply. */ char mysql_error(); int main() { mysql_error() ; return 0; } I went through the newsgroups and mailing lists, and tried most of the solutions recommended. But I keep getting the same output. Any help is greatly appreciated. -- Ubaidul Khan Wayne State University Library Systems (313)577-4008
