That is not an error. configure tries to compile a lot of test programs to gather various bits of information about your system ("can I compile a program, if I do it this way? Or should I better use another way?"). > I'm trying to compile PHP-4.3.0 with MySQL 3.23.51, and Apache > 1.3.27, using gcc-2.95.3 on Sun Ulta-10 running Solaris-7. It looks like configure successfully ran the tests for your LDAP installation, but afterwards forgot to link to the right libraries. What was the gcc command line that failed? Something like this: configure:46906: gcc .... many options here .... (just before all these unresolved symbols are listed). I don't use LDAP myself, but according to <http://groups.google.de/groups?hl=de&lr=&ie=UTF-8&threadm=1SWm7.2391%24sR3.441040%40dfiatx1-snr1.gtei.net&rnum=4&prev=/groups%3Fq%3Dber_memfree%2Blibldap.so%26meta%3Dsite%253Dgroups%26scoring%3Dd>, you might need to add "-llber" to your LD_FLAGS. LD_FLAGS="-lber" configure ... your configure options ... Regards... Michael
