I tried to look at the archive of this mailing list to see if it's been talked about before but the link was bad for the archive on the web page, so I'm sorry if I'm hitting an old topic. I want to write a function that basically defines all the database connection info in a file outside the open_basedir, I don't care if I have to do it in php.ini, apache.conf, or another file, I just want that level of control. The intent is to do this per virtual server and then take away the standard connection comands. Can anyone point me towards a comprehensive tutorail on doing this? ========================================================================= = http://www.GypsyRogers.com - Bringing Your Internet Business Into Focus = http://www.Gypsy2012.com - Hack the Vote 2012 ========================================================Gypsy ... I put username & password pairs in my Apache httpd.conf file and this can be done by virtual server.... I use this method for perl all the time... Now 1. I HATE F****!! hankers or crackers I have had 3 atacks over the last 2-3 years... I would like to string them up by there private parts. 2. I have been messing around for years with UNIX and the net... If a foreign admin busted your site they would generaly leave email from yourself ie root to root.. this was never for profit. 3. Sites should NEVER BE CRACKED or HACKED without prior agreement with the owner....If they are they should GO TO JAIL! 3A In other words you want me to pay for PROTECTION??? Please check with your local, state, and Federal statutes I think the charge is RACKETEERING.. 4. I am still recovering from a root kit on my web server.. It was Very destructive! The server had to be rebuilt... 2 to 3 hrs reformatting and loading the base OS 6 to 12 hrs of PATCHING the OS 3-4 hrs of reloading all the utilities and programs.. lets call that 20+ hrs @ $185.00 per.... So who is going to pay me for my time,,,, C Harrison "Sex, Drugs and UNIX"
