Hi all, I try to install php on a server runing apache 1.3.27 with AIX 4.3.2.0 and it's the hell. The server is in production so I have to be realy careful ... Firstly I tried to download the last sources from www.php.net then ./configure -with-apxs. At the end of the configure proces, I get those lines : +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | License: | This software is subject to the PHP License, available in this | distribution in the file LICENSE. By continuing this installation | process, you are bound by the terms of this license agreement. | | If you do not agree with the terms of this license, you must abort | the installation process at this point. +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | *** NOTE *** | The default for register_globals is now OFF! | If your application relies on register_globals being ON, you | should explicitly set it to on in your php.ini file. | Note that you are strongly encouraged to read | http://www.php.net/manual/en/security.registerglobals.php | about the implications of having register_globals set to on, and | avoid using it if possible. +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ ./config.status[1769]: 6: bad file unit number ./config.status[1770]: 6: bad file unit number Then I made the make (no problems) and the make install. And here it stops because it cannot find the libphp4.so (which actually doesn't exist ...). So I tried then to make a ./configure --with-apxs=/path/to/my/apxs but with no success. So finaly, I thought this could be an apache problem and tried to download the sources of the 1.3.27 release of apache, then ./configure -enable-module=so --> it worked perfectly then make. Until here no problem. After I tried to compile php with -with-apxs=/path/to/my/new/apache/apxs But I got the following error : checking for Apache 1.x module support via DSO through APXS... Sorry, I was not able to successfully run APXS. Possible reasons: 1. Perl is not installed; 2. Apache was not compiled with DSO support (--enable-module=so); 3. 'apxs' is not in your path. Try to use --with-apxs=/path/to/apxs The output of /home/Downloads/Apache/apache_1.3.27/src/support/apxs follows Usage: apxs -g [-S <var>=<val>] -n <modname> apxs -q [-S <var>=<val>] <query> ... apxs -c [-S <var>=<val>] [-o <dsofile>] [-D <name>[=<value>]] [-I <incdir>] [-L <libdir>] [-l <libname>] [-Wc,<flags>] [-Wl,<flags>] <files> ... apxs -i [-S <var>=<val>] [-a] [-A] [-n <modname>] <dsofile> ... apxs -e [-S <var>=<val>] [-a] [-A] [-n <modname>] <dsofile> ... configure: error: Aborting I checked for perl but it present and the result of perl -v is the following : perl -v This is perl, v5.6.0 built for aix Copyright 1987-2000, Larry Wall Perl may be copied only under the terms of either the Artistic License or the GNU General Public License, which may be found in the Perl 5.0 source kit. Complete documentation for Perl, including FAQ lists, should be found on this system using man perl' or perldoc perl'. If you have access to the Internet, point your browser at http://www.perl.com/, the Perl Home Page. So now I am completely lost and I don't what to do ... Any help is greatly appreciated and off course, excuse my poor english, .... :) Bye, Schlum
