PHP3 compat with PHP4

I have an Appache server with PHP successfully
installed (or seems to be anyway) and I wish to use an
older application that was written for PHP3. Is there
a way to use the PHP3 files with PHP4? It seems to
execute url.php just fine but just spits PHP code to
the browser when I try url.php3
Suggestions for a newbee?
