PHP4/HPUX/GD compile/link problem

Hi, I'm trying to make PHP4.0.2 with the GD library work on HP-UX 11.00. The compiler being used is gcc (although the problem seems present with cc too). After the build, I end up with libphp4.sl, which has to be renamed to .so for apache to load it. That works fine, however - all the gd related commands aren't available. Checking out the library, all of the image related functions simply aren't there. This is particularly strange, since the library built in ext/gd _does_ contain all the symbols, and that part builds correctly. During configure it detects all the various libraries and functions related to GD, but I can't see the result ever being included in the final libphp4.sl library. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?
