So, in this case, why don't they just realse the .so's for different distro's? Coz then all i need is libphp4.so, mysql.so and imap.so, which I've spent 7 hours trying to make, without any luck --- should upgrading from 4.04pl1 to 4.1.1 render the php extensions unusable? Siggy
RPM and deb packages are there for these purpose. If 2 systems are the same but except for libphp4.so, it's just a matter of copying libphp4.so. (If you have extensions as individual .so files, you need to compile these also) This just cannot be assumed under verious installations. If you have problem install from source, try binary packages from your distributions. (I hope you are using Linux/FreeBSD :) -- Yasuo Ohgaki

Just a quick yes or no question: If I have a working system with PHP 4.1.1 on it, can I copy its
libphp4.so
to another server without PHP and get that other server working,
assuming I
have all the necessary libraries on the target system?
Yes.
