Re: __dn_skipname ?

trying to resolve this trouble Cannot load /var/lib/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: /var/lib/apache/libexec/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: __dn_skipname because it should not appears as soon as /usr/lib/libresolv.so has it and is in my LD_LIBRARY_PATH I took gcc-2.95.2 AND binutils-2.10 and compile first one then second, then first again with ld option as: gcc-2.95.2/configure --prefix=/opt/gcc-2.95.2 --enable-shared --enable-threads --enable-cpp make bootstrap MAKE="make -j 2" -j 2 make install PATH=/opt/gcc-2.95.2:$PATH LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/gcc-2.95.2/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH ./configure --prefix=/opt/binutils-2.10 make;make install PATH=/opt/binutils-2.10:$PATH LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/binutils-2.10/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH gcc-2.95.2/configure --prefix=/opt/gcc-2.95.2 --enable-shared --enable-threads --enable-cpp --with-gnu-ld make bootstrap MAKE="make -j 2" -j 2 make install and then back to php ;-) ./configure --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --with-apxs=/opt/Apache1-3/bin/apxs --prefix=/opt/php4-0 --with-gnu-ld AND I LOST TIME BECAUSE OLD (BAD) config.cache WASNOT REBUILT by configure ;-( would it be a bug ? so I removed it to allow its rebuilding and saw "check if dn_skipname is in libresolv.so....YES" whereas previously it was NO ! ending with make clean;make;make install unfortunately still nm /opt/Apache1-3/libexec/libphp4.so | grep dn U __dn_skipname U dn_expand 0000000000093fec T php_if_checkdnsrr but /opt/Apache1-3/bin/apachectl restart /opt/Apache1-3/bin/apachectl restart: httpd restarted with httpd.conf having: LoadModule php4_module libexec/libphp4.so but the test.php file remains as <?phpinfo()?> config.log configure:4892: checking for dn_skipname in -lresolv configure:4911: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 -D_POSIX_PTHREAD_SEMANTICS conftest.c -lresolv -lresolv -lm -ldl -lcrypt -lnsl -ls ocket 1>&5 Undefined first referenced symbol in file dn_skipname /tmp/ccLX1E02.o ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to conftest collect2: ld returned 1 exit status where should I look then ? -- __ Brice
