Your reply got me thinking and reading. I'm sure you're right that there is a conflict between gcc and non-gcc. So I started all over with apache. I had a problem with mod_auth_dbm so I downloaded gdbm and made and tested it. Beauty. I then tried apache again. Damn thing still says I have a problem with dbopen in the auth_dbm module. OK, comment that out. Then I get an error in the rewrite module. Comment it out. Apache works. Back to PHP. I re-made it with the changes you requested.........same error; can't find symbol pow. At this point I'm giving up. I've spent over 3 days working on this and I'm no further ahead. It doesn't help that I don't have a clue what I'm doing. All the documentation is wonderful if you understand the terms and concepts (I don't). I've probably messed up my libraries or whatever with all the downloads I've done. If SCO (now Caldera) is serious about this product they better get their act together and come out with compiled versions that work. I'm going back to my Mandrake system for web work, and so will my customers. Thanks for all your help.
