Newbie: Win95/Apache install - fairly long

I have attempted to run PHP 4.0.2 under MSIE 5.0 and Apache 1.3 but when I point the browser at http://1.0.0.123/First.php or http://127.0.0.1/First.php, I get the file download box (the PC's IP address is 1.0.0.123, obviously). If I click on "open from this location", then php runs in a DOS box and closes. If I run php First.php in a DOS box I get the correct output and then the DOS box closes. First.php is: <HTML><HEAD><TITLE>My First Time</HEAD></HEAD> <BODY><P><?php echo "hello...\n!"?></P></BODY></HTML> and I have a copy in F:\Program Files\Php\ and in F:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache\htdocs\. Httpd.conf is in F:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache\Conf and contains the following, among other things: ServerType standalone ServerRoot "f:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache" Port 80 ServerName 1.0.0.123 DocumentRoot "f:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache/htdocs" <Directory "f:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache/htdocs"> Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> TypesConfig conf/mime.types DefaultType text/plain ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "f:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache/cgi-bin/" ScriptAlias /php/ "f:/program files/php" AddEncoding x-compress Z AddEncoding x-gzip gz tgz AddType application/x-tar .tgz AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php3 AddType application/x-httpd-php .phtml Action application/x-httpd-php "/php/php.exe" AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .php .php3 Php.ini is in C:\Windows\ and all the distributed dlls have been copied to C:\Windows\System. In MSIE 5.0., HTTP and Socks use proxy 1.0.0.123 on Port 80. Please can anyone suggest what might be going wrong here. Thanks for any help. Tony.
