Php4.0 wanted--cant Install.

I am running a RH6.2 machine.
I have ran the php4.02 rpm and it "seemed" to install correctly.
When I restart the httpd pid it gives me this error when I check status
"httpd dead but subsys locked"
Should I bomb the rpm idea and build from scratch? Or is there something I
am missing that could be easily fixed..
Please help..in desperate need of my web-server.
