PHP 4 as DSO

Hi all,
I compiled PHP 4.03 as a DSO and added it to apache 1.3.14 with mod_perl,
but when trying to start up, I get this:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: dlopen: Cannot
map library libmm.so
I did compile the mm library and its DSO is where it should be at
/usr/local/mm/lib/libmm.so and I compiled php with --with-mm=/usr/local/mm
what does "Cannot map library" mean?
