Yet another installation mystery.
Please help if you can...
Installed Xitami v2.4d9, Active Perl v5.6.1 and PHP v4.2.3 (in that order)
on Win 2000 SP2.
Installations went fine, it seemed, and Xitami and Perl work together
correctly.
When I installed PHP, I selected Xitami as the web server to be configured,
and looking at the admin pages, it appears that filters were set correctly
for the .php extension pointing to my installation directory, F:\PHP\PHP.exe
I'm new to this, so I'm not really sure if there is a special place to put
my test.php script for testing, so I put it in the \Xitami\cgi-bin directory
and tried to access it from there in my browser
(http://localhost/cgi-bin/test.php). The contents of test.php is:
<?php phpinfo();?>
as suggested in the troubleshooting docs. I also tried the same script
wrapped in HTML tags:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Test PHP Script</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<?PHP
phpinfo();
?>
</BODY>
</HTML>
Attempting to run either through Xitami yields a blank page, so I followed
the instructions and viewed the source, expecting to see my script. Instead,
I see this:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html;
charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>
Going further in the trouble shooting, I ran PHP from the command line,
using the command php.exe -i
I got the screen full of HTML codes indicating that PHP itself runs OK.
At this point, I checked the knowledge base at www.php.net, but found only
two articles indicating what I have "should" work. I'm stumped
Anybody have any ideas what could be wrong, or what I could try next? I
really need to get both PHP nad Perl working with a single local web server
to facilitate lab and classroom setups
Thanks very much in advance for any suggestions.
