Hi,
on the member side, there is __get, __set, __isset and __unset - on the method side, there is __call (and now: __callstatic). I was wondering why there was no __getstatic and friends, but failed to find a reason.
Attached you'll find an incomplete patch against PHP_5_3 to add this functionality. If you like it let me know and I can finish it.
