Actually I'm not sure if this problem still exists, but I found that
checking our commits related to ZE2 fixes.
Creating objects on the fly didn't work or at least raised a warning/error.
I changed code like:
$not_existing_object->foo = "bar";
to:
$not_existing_object = new stdClass();
$not_existing_object->foo = "bar";
