My guess is that even though a lot of applications out there are still PHP 4 ctor reliant, a very low percentage of these applications might be under active development.Not under active development doesn't mean that the application shouldn't be able to upgrade PHP and enjoy the bug/security fixes or performance improvements that new versions provide.
