Hi!
I am very happy to have some feedback on this, as none I have asked before to provide updates to the search setup instructions was actually done that :)
I've implemented local search support on si2.php.net and I have few
corrections and contributions to this part of mirroring.
First I would like to point out something on page mirroring.php:
# The next lines are only necessary if you would
# like to provide local search support (see /Mirrors-htdig.tgz)
SetEnv HTSEARCH_PROG /local/htdig/bin/htphp.sh
SetEnv HTSEARCH_EXCLUDE "/print/ /printwn/ /manual/howto/ /cal.php"
I guess HTSEARCH_PROG would be /usr/local/htdig/bin/htphp.sh if user follows
README file in Mirrors-htdig.tgz.
Well, yes. It should be the path to htphp.sh... And EXCLUDE should not be copied from there, but it should be the same as you provided as an exclude to htdig. This is something for a future advanced search page. So it is some information for the search page about YOUR htdig setup.
Next thing I did is, I updated the README file in Mirrors-htdig.tgz. You might want to check it out and replace it with the current one (and the patch is not needed any more??). This README file is obviously old and maybe this would increase number of mirrors with local search support.Yep, you are absolutely right. The patch is not needed anymore, as it is included in htdig for a long time now. What I would like to do is to create a mirroring-search.php and a mirroring-stats.php page, and put the install instructions there. This would also mean a common mirror-services.tar.gz file for download with all search and stats related files... BTW the files provided in the Mirror tgz were all right for the current htdig?
And in the end I have a question. I don't get this ... try http://si2.php.net/fopen - this should open the manual page with function.fopen.php. Well it says that this page does not exist! As I see in my error log - thing goes something like this: [Fri Jan 17 12:36:05 2003] [error] [client 193.77.156.41] File does not exist: /home/users/www/wahoo/si2.php.net/mysql [Fri Jan 17 12:36:06 2003] [error] [client 193.77.156.41] File does not exist: /usr/local/apache/htdocs/manual/en/ref.mysql.php Where does it get /usr/local/apache/htdocs directory?! This error was there before htdig install. If someone here has some pointers, please, any input would be greatful! There seems to be no manuals on your site. Try any of this links at http://si2.php.net/docs . All manuals are missing. The search also never displays results in manual pages, try: http://si2.php.net/test The manuals are somwhere but not under the docroot of your server. Goba [one webmaster@php.net]
