If it is still too big, complain ;) I tried to set the same size as the small search form on top of php.net pages (relative font size to your browsers base font). I took a look at the HTML output of the search bar, and you are using 95% widths. Maybe you could try 80-85% instead. I don't let the sidebar take up too much space, so the right part of the search form is cut off. Could you switch to a percentage based layout and use 10px text?
