All right, it's not a problem. We have also talked about disabling the mirror selection on real mirror sites (not www.php.net), because if a user is on a mirror site, he is probably using a near mirror site. :) So the question changed ;) Can someone please set up automatic updates for www.php.net (and not rsync.php.net) to work? Then I'll add some code to the download page to testdrive this ;) > > Jim, can you also provide us your test script, you showed to us, > > which ordered the mirrors by how far they are from the requester? > > It would be a good kickstart for this to be implemented soon ;) > > i don't know where the code for that page went. for mysql.com, we simply > went with showing mirrors in the same country, and not trying to do the > geographic-distance thing. Well, we have quite some mirrors, more then a hundred now, but if a mirror is not found in the users country, it can be helpful to order other mirrors in distance. That would also be nice if the mirrors showen are down. BTW your code was somewhere at rsync.php.net/~jimw if I remember correctly (but this list have no really searchable archive, so I cannot search for this). Goba
