Oh.. Forgot to mention that you need this otherwise you get:
configure: error: To compile ht://Dig, you will need a C++ library. Try
installing libstdc++
Of course libstdc++ is installed but configure stops.
Also I can confirm that the CXXFLAGS/CPPFLAGS is also needed for RH 8.0
