Our mirroring rules have nothing against anyone setting up an unofficial mirror. I have modified the footer code now however, to better represent if an unofficial mirror is what you see, or a registered one... After the next update of the dotgeek unofficial mirror this will be represented there too...
Goba
I was perusing dotgeek.org and noticed that on the right hand side of their page they have a link to 'http://php.dotgeek.org/'. This subdomain is an unofficial mirror of php.net. While that in iteself isn't so bad, I find they break the spirit of PHP by showing their logo in the 'This mirror sponsored by' area and at the bottom they have the 'This mirror generously provided by:' text. They make it out as if they are an official mirror and that you guys are thanking them for providing that mirror. That isn't the case. They just provide this mirror as yet one more ploy to add content to their site withot doing any real work.
