Hi,
I have manually checked the mirrors which say they have stats (webalizer) support turned on (32 mirrors out of the total 111 mirrors). Around half of them provide these symptoms:
- a plain Apache 404 page
- the nice php.net page saying no stats
- the stats extension index page
- some hosting company specific error page
Setting up stats for mirror sites is nearly unheard of on recent mirrors. Most of those having stats support are old ones.
The question is whether we should care about setting up stats support (ie. provide instructions, track stats support, print links to the stats page)? IMHO it is better if we try to focus our maintainers on their core task: keeping up with the site content with rsync and the site changes manually.
What is your opinion?
Gabor
