http://us3.php.net/manual/en/ref.ldap.php This pages suggests as a Windows person I want the *.dll files in the Windows directory. Your Windows installation software says no, I should keep them in the php directory. The time stamp says this file was updated today no less so I am wondering which is the real answer. I am a beginner and trying to get ldap SASL working. Ldap (without SASL) ver 5.1.2 worked, but I don't want to break it upgrading to 5.2.1. I hope you were the right one to send web page changes to and not the bug group. My apologies if I got this wrong and thank you for the wonderful site.
Hello Diana, Files should never be copied into the Windows directories. Instead, adding the PHP directory to the PATH is preferred. Since the various Windows directories are already in the PATH, it was once recommended to simply copy files within because it was simple to explain and understand. Some of this old information lingers throughout the manual but thanks to your question it'll all be hunted down and changed today. Regards, Philip
