what is mixed type variable

dear sir, i want to write my own function in which i want to use mysqli_stmt_bind_param(object $stmt, string $paramtype, mixed $param ); 1. how to define a function with "mixed parameter"? 2. how to call that function with mixed argument? for ex. function Stmt(object $link, string $query, string $paramtype, mixed $param){

       $stmt = mysqli_stmt_init($link);
       mysqli_stmt_prepare($stmt, $query);
       mysqli_stmt_bind_param($stmt,$paramtype, $param );

       mysqli_stmt_execute($stmt);
