Actually, Sebastian, what you're doing right now is part of why
this list is intended --- for mirror maintainers to speak back and
forth with each other and help each other out.

Each individual maintainer may have their own reasons though.
Imagine if the mirror is running an old P3 700MHz with 128MB RAM ---
running hourly may be a bit too much weight for that old horse to
carry. As long as the site remains in sync, the statistics aren't
*required* to be updated quite as frequently, though it's
*recommended* that they are.
