Hey,
I've been thinking of creating a PHP tutorial site. I feel as though i owe
something to php and open source software, and i want to do something that
hasn't been done before properly. I know there are alot of books written for
beginning php, but they do cost money. PHP is open source software, and i
don't think people should have to pay money to learn the basics and
professional side of it. There is not one website that has enough information
for anyone wanting to learn php without any prior programming knowledge. I
wasn't sure who to contact, but i just wanted to make sure it is ok (because
i wasn't sure if The PHP Group make money from the sale of books), as alot of
people would probably resort to the website instead of buying the books. If
it's ok to go ahead, i will probably start in about 6 to 8 weeks as i have a
few websites i'm creating at the moment. There are a few minor problems
though, i will need a webhost and a domain, which hopefully might be donated
by an open source company, maybe MandrakeSoft or some other company similar
(it's not your concern though). This wont be my first work, i will eventually
create other websites that provide detailed programming language tutorials
for beginners. The main reason i am doing this is because i am a firm
believer in open source software, but instead of writing open source software
myself, i feel this is more appropriate. I mean, what's the point in open
source languages and software if there isn't adequate documentation provided
for free also?
Regards,
Brendan.
